Plano ISD Community United Acts of Kindness/Friendship February
Plano ISD has teamed up with First United Bank to spread hope, joy and services throughout the community through United Acts of Kindness. Throughout the month of February, all students, educators, parents and other stakeholders are encouraged to celebrate Friendship February through random acts of kindness. Please view this calendar in English and Spanish filled with ideas for all grade levels and families. For more information about Friendship February and United Acts of Kindness, please email Sharon Bradley and Clair Song.
Hope Week is Coming! Join us in Spreading Hope and Mental Health Awareness
The Plano ISD Counseling Services Department is excited to announce Hope Week, taking place from February 10-14, as an opportunity to promote mental health awareness and encourage hope and resilience among our students. As part of this important week, City of Plano Mayor John Muns, has officially proclaimed Thursday, February 13, as the Day of Hope in the City of Plano. On this day, secondary students across Plano ISD will participate in activities designed to promote hope, reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and empower students to seek help when needed. The Day of Hope also serves as a reminder of the mental health resources available in our community.
We invite our entire community to take part in this important initiative by spreading messages of encouragement and hope! Together we can make a difference in the lives of our students and community. Thank you for making Hope Week and the Day of Hope a meaningful and impactful event!

MAP Middle of the Year Testing Results
Students in Grades K-8 have completed the middle of the year MAP testing sessions. These results provide teachers with valuable information about each student’s learning progress and next steps for their instruction. Parents and guardians can expect to receive a hard copy of their child’s results; this Family Report will come home with the student. For more information about MAP testing, parents may visit the NWEA’s Family Toolkit website (available in multiple languages) or visit the links here for a brief overview of the report in English or Spanish. Reports will be sent home no later than Monday, January 27. For questions about a child’s results or progress, please contact the child’s teacher.
Financial Aid Information Sessions and Workshops
Parents of Seniors, we have exciting news! The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is now open, and completing it early can be your first step toward accessing financial aid for college or career school. This application is your gateway to federal, state, and school-based financial support, including grants, loans, and work-study opportunities.
Even if you’re unsure about qualifying, it’s always a good idea to submit the FAFSA—there could be financial aid waiting for you!
To make the process easier, we invite you to join one of our upcoming presentations or workshops where we’ll guide you through completing the FAFSA or TASFA (Texas Application for State Financial Aid). You’ll get tips, personalized assistance, and answers to your questions.
Visit the Plano ISD Counseling Services FAFSA website for the full schedule of events and more helpful resources. Please reach out to your campus counselor for questions.
