    Meeting Welcome

    The meeting opened at 6:10pm. with a welcome by Superintendent Dr. Theresa Williams who congratulated and thanked everyone for their participation and hard work on this important process. Board members Nancy Humphrey, Dr. Lauren Tyra and Jeri Chambers were present to thank the group. Ms. Humphrey also thanked the administration for their continued work to bring the district into the future. Both Dr. Tyra and Ms. Chambers thanked the committee, and relayed how grateful they are for the committee work done.

    Agenda

    Dr. Ken Helvey of N2Learning then reviewed the group norms and the charge.

    Dr Williams then addressed the group conveying that the administration reassessed all the data in order to be sure that the recommendation explores multiple options.

    Table Group Work

    During the last meeting, the committee reached a consensus for both the Central and East clusters. Some boundary changes were adjusted for the Central and East clusters after additional demographic review.

    However, due to campus capacities, and the growing need for emergent bilingual in the West cluster, the committee put a pause on making changes to the West cluster to allow for a deeper look into the facility needs of the West in order to balance the cluster.

    Factors of note in the West Cluster:

    • The West is declining at a slower pace than both the East and Central Clusters
    • The West cluster is dense in SW corner

    Another poll was conducted and all 3 clusters reached a consensus on the new recommendations.

    Next Steps

    Plano ISD Administration will present a recommendation to the Board of Trustees for the West cluster for considerations by December 2024.

    The committee was instructed to use the QR codes or the “Let’s Talk” forum to ask any additional questions should they arise.  The committee was also instructed to periodically check the FAQ page on the Long Range Facility Planning website to review information updates.
