    Staff Transition Plan Timeline

We have established a staff transition timeline that provides employees the opportunity to thoughtfully consider their next steps in their Plano ISD employment journey. This timeline ensures that staff will have priority consideration for placement before the general population. Employees will be able to submit their desired campuses for their next placement. While we cannot guarantee placement at a preferred campus, every effort will be made to match employees with their choices. Our goal is to finalize the placements of all designated staff before beginning the standard employee transfer process.

  • Pay Protection

We understand the importance of transparency and minimizing disruption to compensation during this transition. Employees who maintain their assignments at the selected schools will receive a one-time retention stipend in the amount of $3,000 to be paid in two equal increments at the end of each semester. Employees are eligible for the stipend if they are employed for a minimum of 65 days per semester and remain employed through the end of each semester. This stipend reflects our commitment to supporting the final year of the building and acknowledges the essential role of our staff in ensuring a positive transition for students. We are grateful for our staff’s dedication and support during this period.

During the transition, employee base pay and benefits will be maintained, ensuring financial stability and continuity. However, supplemental pay and stipends are subject to change based on individual roles, assignments, new assignments and will be evaluated during employee placement. If an employee chooses to move into a different position, the employee’s compensation will be adjusted to align with the pay scale assigned to the new role. We are committed to supporting our employees through this transition and ensuring clarity regarding compensation.

    Assignment Process by Position

Plano ISD offers staff affected by long-range planning efforts the chance to transfer to similar positions, prioritizing placements before general hiring begins. Every effort will be made to provide opportunities in similar positions to the extent possible. Final decisions will be made based on certification and district needs. The process unfolds in three stages:

Stage 1: All Long Range Planning Transfer (LRPT) employees are automatically added to the Long Range Planning Transfer List for new placements.

Stage 2: From January 13 - January 20, campuses and LRPT employees can select placement preferences at campuses projected to gain students for the 2025-2026 school year.

Stage 3: Once the window closes, remaining LRPT employees are assigned/placed in positions for the 2025-2026 school year. This cycle continues until all placements are finalized.

Employees seeking position changes, including promotions, should follow the traditional district application process.

    Staff Transition Resources

To ensure as smooth a transition as possible, all staff who are reassigned to a new campus for the 2025-2026 school year will receive moving assistance including specific protocols for packing and labeling instructional resources, campus records and other supplies. All moves will be completed by movers provided by the district. More details regarding the physical transition between campuses will be provided to impacted staff in the coming months.
