• Summer 2023 Remote Testing Information 

    Plano ISD students will take their language other than English (LOTE) Credit by Exam (CBE) tests remotely at home using the AVANT Language Proficiency Assessment Platform monitored by an Avant Representative. 

    Technology Requirements  

    • An electronic device, such as a Chromebook, Desktop, Laptop (PC or Mac) with a webcam and microphone
    • Chrome Internet browser access

    Photo ID 

    As part of the test security and verification process, the student will be asked to present a Photo ID prior to beginning the test.

    Acceptable forms of Photo IDs are:

    • School Issued ID Card
    • State Issued ID (Driver's license/Permit)
    • Plano ISD Gradebook Photo displayed on their mobile device 

    Prior to the Day of Testing

    Please visit https://avantassessment.com/avantproctor-test-takers to review the following information. 

    • Receive a confirmation email from noreply@avantassessment.com with instructions on how to access your Avant Test.
    • Schedule a date and time to take your Avant Test using the confirmation email from noreply@avantassessment.com
      • Choose one date and time you plan to attend. Do NOT schedule multiple sessions.
        • Test dates will be available on a weekday during the test window.
        • Test start times will be 11:00 AM or 3:00 PM.
      • Student First and Last Name must be the exact name listed on Photo ID
      • Choose Central Time Zone (Time zone for Plano, TX)
    • Complete Technology Check and Sample Test
    • Access Your Proctored Avant Test
      • Before taking your Avant Test, make sure to follow these instructions:
        • Remove cell phones, loose papers, etc. from the desk/space where you will be testing.  Review Avant Test Taking Rules
        • Photo ID must be available for check-in.
      • Click on the Test Access Link to check-in and begin your proctored test. Be on time.
      • Students have 3 hours (180 minutes) to complete the Avant Test. 

    Virtual Keyboard Instruction 

    Refer to the https://avantassessment.com/writing-input-guide for a list of the languages that require a special keyboard

    • Before you test, install the Virtual Keyboard on your device.

    • To use the Virtual Keyboard, follow these steps.
      • Step 1: Activate the language and keyboard on your device 
      • Step 2: Switch to the desired language
      • Step 3: Type in the desired language
