History of Weatherford
Weatherford honors businessman and developer Arch Weatherford (1875-1965), who moved to Plano in 1895 and opened a jewelery and watch repair business. He helped organize the Farmers & Merchants Bank and served as a vice-president and director, continuing in those capacities when it became First National. Weatherford was also on the Plano ISD board 1908-2012, on the city council and parks board. He helped develop a number of downtown commercial buildings.
Weatherford Elementary opened early in 1974 at a cost of $782,000 and was renovated in 1984-85 and 1992.
